Three days ago, I passed a certification exam that is vital to my day job. Since then, I have been reintroducing myself to life as a writer by reading my debut novel from the beginning. Six weeks is a very long time to be separated from anything you love and enjoy, and I don’t think it would be fair to just jump right back in, picking up from where I left off with regard to editing. The novel deserves better treatment than that and I decided that I’d rather immerse myself in the work from the start. As a result of being able to essentially rediscover my own novel, I’m falling in love with Duality all over again. This novel was a lot of fun to write, and editing hasn’t been easy. As I mentioned before, it’s like I’m a parent trying to choose a favorite child, and removing sections of the book is difficult. But, I enjoy the challenge (for now, anyway) and look forward to the finished product. Yes, I love this novel, but I’m also looking forward to the next one…and the next one after that.
In the meantime, I have managed to finagle a full day free to myself tomorrow to indulge even more. I’ll also be posting the first of many “Writer’s Block” entries – at long last. It feels good to be getting back where I belong, and into the full swing of writing, blogging, and editing. I’m excited for tomorrow. Hell, I’m excited for tonight! I was barely able to get through the remainder of the workday; hardly able to think of much else aside from what the next 24 hours might bring and all of the literary shenanigans that I’ll indulge in.
Let’s get started!
