I realize that there has been radio silence here at Always Ametra as of late. But, for good reason! For the last three weeks, I have spent roughly 18 hours out of every weekend doing nothing but writing. Yes, I continued to write every evening during the week after work, but it became the norm to get in on Friday before 5 pm and spend the next eight hours at my desk writing and editing before beginning again on Saturday morning and also into Sunday. As a result, I have just finished sending out the invitations and accompanying private link to my beta readers! Yes, that’s right! Duality is officially in the beta stage!
Though it took longer than I hoped, the bottom line is that I’ve made it: 40 chapters, over 70,000 words, and nearly 300 pages – I couldn’t be happier with the outcome, and this was such a joy for me. Over the next few weeks, the critiques will start trickling in and then the next phase will go live. That will include professional editing along with finalizing the cover design and then, of course, publication! I’m not yet ready to announce a release date, though. I do have one in mind, but I’m also monitoring the feasibility of it first. Stay tuned for that!
But, let’s not get ahead of ourselves. The fact that I have reached the beta reading stage is an accomplishment that I’m so thankful for and so proud of. I don’t want to diminish it. I will say this, though: I will not be idle while Duality is in the hands of the beta readers. As I mentioned in a previous post, I have a number of projects to choose from to help keep me busy in the meantime. As I look back on that post, though, I can’t help but laugh at how sure I was that Duality was finished back then. Shows how much I knew then and how much there’s still left to learn. I’m ready!
In the meantime, I’m going to pause long enough to have a celebratory lunch. Then it’s back to work!
